To implement ‘populist’ announcements made in the recent budget and complete flagship schemes in time bound manner in the election year, a conference was held chaired by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday at CMO. Before the concluding session, Chief Secretary NC Goel too had a dialogue with the district collectors and commissioners. Raje directed collectors to work on the ground to implement budget announcement, particularly farmers’ loan waiver.

“You are called ear and eye of the government, hence it is required that you tour the districts and get feedback from people of the schemes concerned to them. Revenue issues should be redressed immediately so people at large can get relief. In coming summer, the masses do not face drinking water problems, taking this into the consideration the planning should be made now,” said Raje addressing the collectors. She asked them to focus on service delivery which can only make government schemes and programs successful.

The meeting which was just six days after the state budget also witnessed discussions on implementation of major announcements and schemes. Raje referred the budget and directed officials to implement it. “For budget 2018-19, the works must begin now. Procedures necessitated for farmers’ loan waiver should commence immediately so they may get relief. You (collectors) must release funds on time to the beneficiaries of toilet construction, crops purchase on MSP (minimum supporting price) etc,” stated Raje underlining her priority of the budget implementation in the election year.

Earlier, Goel also had a dialogue with the collectors and commissioners in the conference and directed them to take up, dispose off matters related to commoners. “The collectors should develop a system to redress even minor grievances without any delay. You must be proactive in redressal of grievances and don’t wait for problems and issue to land in the offices,” said Goel, stressing to be come out from the cozy office of collectors and tour in the areas they govern.

Notably, Raje in her last budget had rolled out sops and perks to all sections of the society targeting farmers, youths and women while tabling the budget on February 12. Her announcements were termed ‘populist’ and ‘unrealistic’  by Congress as Rajasthan goes to poll in last quarter of the year.
