Fee hike: ‘SEWA’ shoots off letter to CM Vasundhara Raje, Vasudev Devnani

Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal had warned the private schools in the national capital of action against levy of a high fee under the pretence of implementation of the seventh pay commission, December 2017.

School Education Welfare Association (SEWA) Sansthan wrote a letter to chief minister Vasundhara Raje and state education minister Vasudev Devnani, seeking an audit of the private schools, on Tuesday.

“We request an audit of all private schools availing more than Rs 30,000 as yearly fees by a committee supervised by the High Court Chief Justice. The schools need to be examined and the expenditures made by the institution should be checked to reveal the truth,” the letter stated.

It further urged the government to take action against the schools, if found guilty.

“The letter has been written after we received several complaints by parents that the excessive amount charged in the name of the fees is being used for other personal expenses of the school, which is against its governing body,” said Shailesh Nath Singh, co-ordinator, SEWA.

Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal had warned the private schools in the national capital of action against levy of a high fee under the pretence of implementation of the seventh pay commission, December 2017. “The warning was based on the audit done by Kejriwal’s team,” Nath explained.

Demand
