Fee furore: No interim relief for parents

The Rajasthan High Court on Thursday refused to give interim relief to parents of students studying in the Vidhyashram School, situated on JLN Marg. The court also refused to stay the increased fee in the school. The court has observed that the last day to deposit fee — 10th May — has long passed. Along with this the HC has scheduled the next hearing of the matter on May 22 with cases of the same nature. 

The single bench of Justice Indrajeet Singh gave the order while conducting preliminary hearing on application by Naresh dagur and 89 other individuals.

It has been said in the application that the school administration has increased its fee by about 48 per cent. 

In the matter, the High Court had issued directions to few parents to deposit the fee according to the old structure. Apart from this, another single bench of the High Court has restrained the school branch at Pratap Nagar to not recover additional fee from students. Under this, the applicants sought that the High Court provides them relief also and direct them to deposit the fee on the same old structure.

Hearing the matter, the single bench observed that the last day to deposit the fee has passed and under such situiation the Court can not provide interim relief to the applicants. The court has now set hearing in the matter with other similar matters on 22nd May.

Notably, a few days back the education department had withdrawn the no-objection certificate (NoC) of both branches of Vidyashram School in Jaipur. The school had recently confronted the department over issue of steep fee hike raised by the parents. The department had also written to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for cancellation of the school’s affiliation.

The Vidyashram Schools had reportedly increased the fee of its branches at the JLN Marg and Pratap Nagar which has enraged the parents.

Directions given

It has been said in the application that the school administration has increased its fee by about 48%. The HC had issued directions to parents to deposit fee as per old fee structure.
