The state police’s Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) has made four dozen arrests in the fake weapons licence case unearthing a major crime committed on a massive scale. However, the ATS’s action has been hit by non-cooperation from various agencies from outside the state.

Though the ATS has been working hard to get to the bottom of the matter, its investigation has been slow when it comes to gathering details from various agencies primarily in Jammu.

After several attempts at getting another breakthrough in the case, the ATS is now gearing up to convince the state government to re-approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the matter.

According to highly placed sources, a meeting in this regard will be held in the Police Head Quarters (PHQ) on Tuesday in presence of senior state officials. “The meeting has been kept keeping in mind the involvement of various agencies in the matter. We had approached the state government to send a recommendation to the CBI earlier as well, but we are yet to receive a formal communication for the same,” sources said, further adding that they are looking to re-approach the CBI through the state government in the matter. The CBI investigation will reveal various other facets in the case, otherwise the state ATS is already doing its investigation here.”

Sources in the ATS reveal that while teams were sent several times to Jammu to further investigate the matter and find out the involvement of any government official, if any, with the gang, the ATS’s attempts have not met with similar enthusiasm in Jammu resulting in severe difficulty in getting documents that could lead to progress in the case.
