Under construction, Bais Godown flyover raising from LIC office to Sodala Tri-junction will get completed in January 2019, post to the Rajasthan assembly election which the BJP government plans to capitalise on the agenda of development and flagship schemes.

The chief minister Vasundhara Raje while laying foundation laying ceremony of the project on August 2016 had instructed JDA to finish civil works of the project by October 2018, just before the bugle of election schedule is likely to be heard.

The deadline clearly depicts the government intends to sail election smoothly banking on it, particularly in Jaipur. Once complete, the road is expected to save nearly 40 minutes of travelling time and decongest Hawa Sadak as it would offer a non-stop drive at a speed of up to 50 kmph. In fine, thousands to get benefit from the 2.8 km long elevated road which has been awarded to Simplex Infrastructure Limited (SIL) at Rs 240 crore.

The sources said that poor planning, traffic flow and time taking process in shifting cables and lines affected the civil works forcing the JDA to change its deadline to January 9, 2019.

In a reply submitted to a question raised by BJP MLA Pratap Singh Singhvi the authority accepted it and quoted a fresh deadline.

The engineers engaged with the project, however, have a different version of the new deadline. They accept that the CM gave them a deadline to finish its works by October 2018 but when the contract was awarded the deadline extended to January 2019.

“The new deadline was mentioned in the contract itself. We are doing our best and the project will be finished on the time.

So far nearly 65 percent of foundation works got completed and 16 out of 116 pier caps have been constructed,” Vivek Sharma, JDA executive engineer, who is looking after the project told to DNA.

Notably, the length of the elevated road from Ambedkar Circle to Sodala is 2.8km. One wing of the project will branch out at Chambal Power House on Hawa Sarak to connect with areas like Swej Farm and Shyam Nagar.
