In coming months travelling between Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur will become a lot more faster. The work of electrification of the Jaipur Sawai Madhopur railway line is in progress and has picked up speed.

The railway engineers are working to convert this route which sees only diesel-driven trains in about 131 km into electrical route on the lines of other states.

Closer to Durgapura Station one can see some of the electricity poles which have been erected by railways to electrify this section in coming times. Sources informed that NWR has planned to lay about 3,100 electrical poles. Out of these, about 2,100 poles have already been installed by RITES which has been doing this work.

These electricity poles are known technically as overhead equipment mast and are just the first step towards electrifying this route.

Sources informed that work is gaining speed and in coming days work works related to assembly, wiring etc will be done.

Apart from this, a traction substation is planned to be made at Bansthali in coming days. This substation is used to convert electricity power to such a form that can be used for railways in its desired form.

According to sources, this work may seem as a significant thing to a layman but for the Railways its a routine process.

The Railway Board has given target of March end of 2019 for completion of this work. Keeping in mind this target, the Railways and the agencies involved in it are working overtime to ensure that this route gets connected with electrical line soon.

Several trains which come from Maharashtra, Gujarat or Madhya Pradesh travel on electrical engine. Once the train comes at Swai Madhopur enroute to Jaipur then diesel engine needs to be put before the train resumes its journey to Jaipur.

Once the Sawai Madhopur-Jaipur route becomes electrified, the travel between Jaipur and these cities like Mumbai, Indore etc will take less time.
