Election Commission of India to impart training to Rajasthan collectors, senior cops & bureaucrats

It is for the first time that every booth in Rajasthan will make use of EVM and VVPAT machines.

A team of senior officials of Election Commission of India (ECI) will give training to Rajasthan collectors, divisional commissioners and Inspector General (IG) on how to go about the electoral process. The crucial training will be organised in the secretariat on Saturday.

“In order to minimise hurdles and dispose off issues in a time bound manner related to electoral process, a team of ECI will reach Jaipur and give training to the collectors, divisional commissioners and IGs. ECI deputy election commissioner Sandip Saxena and director Nikhil Kumar will in detail discuss district level management plan, vulnerability mapping of polling stations and model code of conduct with the officials. The state officials will also be apprised of mobile applications like Sugam, Suvidha and Samadhan,” said Jogaram, additional chief electoral officer.

A session on queries related to electoral process has also been scheduled. Discussion on Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), EVM machines and law and order may be discussed. It is for the first time that every booth in Rajasthan will make use of  EVM and VVPAT machines. In all 200 assembly constituencies, VVPAT machines along with EVMs will be installed in all 52,000 booths.

On the other hand, the ECI has already released a detailed programme regarding preparation of voters’ list and mandated issuing final electoral list on September 27 before assembly election which are scheduled in December. The state election authorities had conducted house-to-house survey from May 15 to June 20 to draft electoral list with insertion of eligible voters and deletion of shifted and deceased voters. It was followed by a survey of physical verification and rationalisation activities of polling booths between June 21 to July 20. It was on July 31 that the department had issued draft rolls. Currently, the election department is inviting objections till August 31. 

From Saturday

The crucial training will be organised in the secretariat on Saturday. A session on queries related to electoral process has also been scheduled.
