With the state Assembly elections scheduled for December, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has released a detailed programme regarding the preparation of voters' list and mandated issuing final electoral list on September 27 in a circular sent to the Chief Electorate Officer (CEO).

The election programme, as per the ECI, will start with a pre-revision programme for drafting electoral rolls and arrangement of polling booths. The election body in the state has been asked to conduct house-to-house surveys between May 15 to June 20 to draft an electoral list with the insertion of eligible voters and deletion of shifted and deceased voters.

The survey is followed by a physical verification and rationalisation activities of polling booths, which will run for a month between June 21 to July 20. In the next 10 days, the election commission employees and officers will have to prepare supplements and integrate draft rolls.

The revision activities commence with the publication of integrated draft electoral rolls on July 31. If anyone has claims or objections against the draft rolls, then he or she could get it corrected between July 31 and August 20. The election body must dispose of claims or objections by September 20 and display the changes on its official website.
