EC chief OP Rawat, officials discuss poll preparations in Rajasthan

The full bench of election commission was in Jaipur on Monday to review the poll preparations. The team will be in the city till Tuesday. Chief election commissioner OP Rawat, election commissioners Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa held a meeting with the political parties, officials of the department of election and other state government officials and sought information on the work being done for the poll preparations in the state. The meeting was held at SMS convention centre. 

They also launched several voter awareness programmes.  Rawat, Arora and Lavasa showed green flag to two SVEEP ( Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation) raths which will aware the people about the EVM and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines.

State chief election officer Anand Kumar said that the SVEEP rath will be going to bus stands, railway stations, malls and other public places to give information to the voters about these machines. The rath will be going to 10 assembly areas in the second phase as district’s 19 assembly areas have already been covered and now in second phase Sanganer, Malviya Nagar, Hawa Mahal, Kishanpol Adarsh Nagar Vidyadhar Nagar, Jhotwara, Civil Lines, Amber and Bagru are included.

On the same day, a SVEEP exhibition was also inaugurated by Rawat. Additional chief election officer Dr Jogaram informed the election commission officials about the pictures which were displayed at the exhibition.

Important information related to elections in the state through the exhibition has been displayed at this exhibition at SMS convention center.

Posters for awareness of VVPAT and EVMs have also been displayed. Information relating to district election management plan, district booth plan etc have been explained in simple language. This is for the first time that in Rajasthan VVPAT machines will be used.

In Lok Sabha by elections which were conducted in January this year, the VVPAT machines were used in Ajmer and Alwar.
