Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, while expressing anguish over officials over the attitude of entangling work in red tapism, said that ‘people should not be treated as ‘files’. She made the statement while chairing sixth review meeting of Raj Vikas over video conference on Wednesday.

She was displeased over a case from Pratapgarh in which an applicant for land deed allotment was made to make rounds of several government offices for eight months.

“If an application is not in accordance with the norms, the applicant should be informed of the same. A person should not be forced to make rounds of offices like a file folder,” she instructed the officials.

In a similar case from Udaipur where a complaint related to RTE was kept pending for considerable period of time, the chief minister ordered the district collector to initiate action against officials concerned. She not only instructed the officials to ensure that public grievances are addressed in time but also instructed school education secretary to establish a mechanism to deal with such complaints.

At the review meeting, time management came up for discussion on several occasions. The chief minister where on one hand stressed the need for getting work done on time, she also emphasised on cutting down the duration where ever possible.

As the CM at the review proceeded to take stock of progress of work of various departments and districts.

The district collectors and senior administrative officials were instructed to hasten work on construction of hostels in various districts and ensuring time bound delivery of benefits of flagship schemes to the people.

She also informed the district collectors that the ranking of districts will be maintained each month in context of implementation of government’s flagship schemes.

She also instructed the officials to ensure that farmers get the compensation under crop insurance scheme on time.
