Diwali bonus for discom, RTDC employees

Jaipur discom has declared Diwali bonus to its employees on Wednesday. This year, no condition has been put up to the employees for giving bonus, which has been announced as per the terms and conditions of the department of finance.

Last year, Jaipur discom in an order, had said that looking into the background of heavy losses being suffered by the power companies, an option may be given to the employees to whom ex-gratia is being allowed, to forgo the same if he/she so desires willingly/happily in the interest of the power companies. However this time no such condition has been put. The employees of Jaipur discom had recently agitated at the gate of Vidyut Bhawan demanding bonus  while employee unions had called for work boycott from Wednesday, if the bonus was not given. However, on Wednesday afternoon, department of finance gave the approval to Jaipur discom for issuance of bonus.

The maximum ceiling of this adhoc bonus will be Rs 6,997 per employee which works out @8.33 % considering the total emoluments as Rs 7,000 per month.

In an order issued by Dr R P Gupta, chief accounts officer of Jaipur discom, it was informed that the payment of the bonus shall be arranged with immediate effect.

Diwali for employees of electricity company will be bright,  employees of RTDC also got good news on Wednesday evening.

After a day of demonstration on Wednesday at the head office of department of tourism, “Paryatan Bhawan,”  RTDC management also approved the issuance of bonus to its employees.

Notably, both these government-run enterprises are not in pink of financial health and the payment of bonus obviously adds to the financial burden of these enterprises.
