Rajasthan government will slap chargesheet against the officials who fail to dispose social security schemes run by the social justice and empowerment department. The decision was taken by the department director Samit Sharma who was angry over poor disposal of schemes during a review meeting held through video conferencing on Friday.
The decision appears to be administrative, though, has a political implications. The Raje government entering in its final leg of tenure is leaving no stone unturned to amend the things which could give an edge in the assembly election.
The schemes reviewed by the director have beneficiaries in lakhs, particularly social security pension scheme and the scholarship to the young students of backwards and scheduled castes. A couple of weeks ago, a high-level meeting chaired by the chief secretary Ashok Jain too discussed the pendancy of works and directed the officials of all departments to dispose of them at the earliest.
The sources in the department said that the top official reviewed the progress of disposing of pension, scholarship and Palanhar applications which were found pending in thousands at the district levels across the state. It has been learnt that the officials concerned failed to convince the top official on the delay which irked him more and idea of issuing chargesheet prevailed.
Sharma in a clear voice warned that such kind of callousness on the part of the officials will not be allowed anymore and the officials responsible will face the music for dereliction in the duty. Giving this warning the director ordered department officials district wise to open their offices on two public holidays - Saturday and Sunday - to clear all the pending applications.
Post to the disposal, each official will draft statue of applications redressed in all the districts. “The officials will have to dispose of pending applications in next two days, or else the department will issue chargesheet against the officials for negligence of the duty,” said Sharma in a statement released by the department.
