Seasoned Team Rajasthan player Dishant Yagnik on Saturday announced he will take retirement from all forms of cricket after Ranji Trophy 2017-18 season.

“I have been contemplating about it since long and for the past 2 weeks the thought has overpowered me. I wanted to announce my retirement immediately after the first match of this domestic season against J&K, but as there was no replacement I postponed it. I will speak to the selectors and Pankaj Singh (Rajasthan captain) and will then decide which game of this season will be my last,” the stumper said while sharing his plans with DNA. Moreover, Yagnik wishes to play the last game of his career at home.

The wicket keeper acknowledged that he has ran out of motivation to play the game that he holds so close to his heart. “The realisation that I stand no chance to play for Team India and Duleep Trophy has dawned on me and that is the main reason why I have made this decision.”

In a gesture to pay back to the game, he has decided to pursue coaching. “In near future I would like to coach junior teams like under-19 or under-23. And in the meanwhile I would prepare myself for the challenges of the coaching job.”

He is the longest serving ‘keeper for Rajasthan and is the only player to have consistently represented the state in Indian Premier League (IPL) where he played for Rajasthan Royals.
