Rajasthan state election department in its inquiry has found evidences submitted by Congress over enrollment of fake voters as baseless. With this the department gave a clean chit to the officers engaged in drafting of electoral rolls for upcoming Assembly elections.

“The party leaders had alleged that many voters have been enrolled multiple times, which in our inquiry was found baseless. The multiple entries, they alleged, are of a name which is being repeated in the roll. When we scanned the rolls our officials found that the name is same but their address and photos are different. There is no substance in the documents they submitted in support of their claim. Even our software storing information on rolls has been designed to detect multiple entries of a single voter when coming from various channels,” said a senior election officer who wished not to be named.

A delegation of Congress leaders recently knocked the door of the election department registering their grievance over multiple entries of voters in electoral lists. They handed over documents and 59 CDs in support of the claims.

It was alleged by the party leaders that many voters were listed twice in urban and rural area voter list. They also claimed that rolls of booths where the minority population is in good ratio were drafted leaving out eligible voters under a conspiracy. They expressed apprehensions that such entries pose threat to free and fair Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the Congress stuck to its evidences and demanded release of final electoral rolls after a thorough probe. Congress vice-president Archana Sharma, who was part of the delegation, said that their evidences were substantial to highlight irregularities in drafting rolls.

Congress general secretary Sushil Sharma, one of the members of the delegation, also said that party has not made any allegation but has conveyed its apprehensions to the election authorities which must be addressed without any delay.
