The development work going in the city is also leading to power cuts in several areas at times. The underground cable of Jaipur Discom was damaged 55 times between April 1 and May 31. This means that on an average, every day, the cable was damaged by various departments which are involved in works related to maintenance and Dravyavati work. Such damages to underground cable make the discom engineers worried as people are not aware of such damages and there are already many complaints of low voltage and power faults due to other reasons which also have to be taken care off.

Recently, a cable was damaged in Kamal Vihar area which is very close to the place where the Dravyavati river work area is. The residents initially complained of the Jaipur Discom call center, however, soon they realized that it was not a routine fault. “The cable was cut by some JCB which was working nearby,” complained a resident.

Locals inform that due to ongoing work near Hawa Sadak, the colonies many times have to face power cut due to damage to the electricity cables. The problem of the discom increases when they do not have the information of work going on near the underground cable and have to bear the brunt of public anger which gets perturbed over power cuts during the summer days. The time taken to resolve such complaints is more as many times, the fault rectification teams take more time to find the underground cable which has been damaged.

On its part, discom engineers are working throughout to maintain the power supply.

AEN’s have been given the duty to manage the electricity supply and monitor it from 6 pm to 12 midnight in control rooms while the JEN’s are monitoring the power supply in individual control rooms between 10 pm and 6 am.
