Derogatory remarks audio: Forensic report confirms it’s Otaram Devasi’s voice

The forensic report has been submitted before the court for consideration as evidence, in a case that has been filed against Devasi for alleged vulgar comments against women.

Gaupalan Minister Otaram Devasi is in for serious trouble as the forensic report has reportedly confirmed that the voice in an audio clip that went viral a few months ago is his. In the audio, the minister is allegedly making derogatory comments against women in politics. The forensic report has been submitted before the court for consideration as evidence, in a case that has been filed against Devasi for alleged vulgar comments against women.  

The matter is related to an audio tape that went viral several months ago. It was alleged that the voice in the viral clip belonged to Devasi and he can be heard making derogatory and objectionable remarks against women in politics. Devasi had denied that it was his voice on the tape.

A case had been filed before the chief judicial magistrate in Sirohi against the minister. Petitioner Hemlata Sharma, who is also associated with the Congress. The court had taken cognizance of the matter and asked for a case to be registered under IT Act. CJM Purushottam Saini had sought statements of the petitioner and witnesses before the court.

The petitioner had got the audio tape tested. She had submitted a television interview of Devasi along with the audio tape to a forensic expert for testing and the report of the forensic expert says that it is Devasi’s voice in both the samples.

Counsel for the petitioner had submitted an 11-page forensic report along with sealed samples of the two audio clips before the court for consideration as evidence. The court has set next hearing on May 1.  Speaking to DNA Sharma said, “The matter is related to protecting the dignity of women in politics. The minister’s statement has tarnished their image. This is why I have filed this case.” The petitioner said she had tried to file a case with the police in the month of February but the police did not accept her complaint after which she moved court.
