In very strong words, deputy speaker Rao Rajendra Singh advocated  ‘right of the House to seek information’ as MLA from Sanganer Ghanshaym Tiwari walked out in protest for delay in submission of annual reports in the assembly. The issue is expected to be deliberated by the speaker at a meeting with the government on March 12. However, the issue was raised by Tiwari through point of order on Monday.

All the state government departments, bodies and universities have to submit their annual reports. However, often these get delayed even for years. This time though the deputy speaker sought to correct the same.

“Henceforth, it will not be allowed and we will try to make rules so strict that those who are careless will be put to tasks through lawful means,” said the deputy speaker, as he chaired the assembly session.

Through point of order, Tiwari raised the issue of non-submission of annual report of Mohanlal Sukhadia University for the last fiscal year, despite instructions made by the chair a week ago. Demanding action against those responsible, Tiwari walked out of the house in protest, ignoring the objection of parliamentary affairs minister Rajendra Rathore.

Meanwhile, deputy speaker Rao Rajendra too  has previously issued directions for the reports to be tabled in due time and even recommended action against the officials responsible for the delay. He said the reports and other documents must be tabled in the house as a right of the public representatives and component of parliamentary democracy.
