Dalits protest in markets against Bhima violence

Workers affiliated with different organizations, went to forcibly shut the markets with carrying clubs in their hands.

Joint struggle committee of Dalit organizations,  ‘Bhima Koregaon Atyachar Sangharsh Samiti’ protested in several markets of Jodhpur against the atrocities of Dalits in Bhima Koregaon, with protesters blocking roads and forcing shops to shut down in the city on Monday.

Early morning, hundreds of workers from the Dalit organisations gathered at the Jalori Gate circle and after the sloganeering, they blocked the route on the Jalori Gate. Workers affiliated with different organizations,  went to forcibly shut the markets with carrying clubs in their hands. However, in the name of security arrangements, police officers wre acting like mute spectators at many places.

Angry protesters misbehaved with shopkeepers and also took out the curtains placed outside the shops. The bandh was taken lightly by the police, administration, and traders as a reuslt working of markets were affected.

The wide impact of the shutdown was found in Sojati Gate, Nai Sadak, Jalori Gate, Sardarpura and the inner parts of the city. a City bus glasses were destroyed near Telegraph office. Due to the accumulation of hundreds of workers on the Jalori Gate, there was a jam on the road, the police had to get traffic through alternative routes. Due to which traffic was also interrupted on short routes.

The shutdown was till two o’clock in the afternoon. After this, all the workers gathered on the Jalori Gate and took out the rally to the Collectorate and organized the meeting there.
