In an unprecedented and mysterious way the downfall of stalwart Congress leader from Rajasthan CP Joshi continues without a break. After taking away charge of important states like West Bengal and Bihar, the party on Tuesday divested Joshi of North Eastern state incharge too.

It was believed that Rahul used to honour Joshi’s advise in the affairs of Rajasthan and other party affairs. The party which believes in ‘one post-one leader’ principle had given Joshi charge of 10 states that showed his stature within the party. However, in last six months his political fortunes took a U-turn, pushing him to a corner where he has no responsibility of any state at present.

Currently, he was incharge of North Eastern states which comprised Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur (excluding Assam). These states have been taken away from him too and Luizinho Falerio has been given the charge. This has been ordered by none other than Rahul Gandhi in whose team Joshi was once an influential man. Since Rahul assumed charge as party head, Joshi’s downfall continues without any break and it appears that the old warlord from Rajasthan has lost his charm. Earlier this year he was removed from incharge of Bihar, West Bengal, two major states where Congress is very focused. This was followed by Andaman Nicobar and Assam moving out from his kitty too.

Joshi, according to party sources, has not performed as required in these states he was incharge of. The Congress party’s debacle in elections held in NE states and the factionalism that surfaced in Bihar proved costly for Joshi. The continuous poll debacle in states under him proved costly for him.

In the Rahul era Joshi also failed to find a place in important committee. He failed to get berth in CWC, in which Ashok Gehlot and Raghuveer Meena, a leader junior to Joshi, were inducted.

So, is the party working towards a plan to keep Joshi in poll bound Rajasthan?

If sources are to be believed Joshi, who is one of the tallest Brahmin face of the party in Rajasthan, could be given a bigger responsibility in the panels to be set up for Assembly elections which are yet to be formed in Rajasthan.

I also want to thank every leader and worker of @INCIndia in these North-East states who has worked for the development of Party and Organisation during my term. I am assured that #Congress is and will be the party that reflects the aspiration of people of all these states.
