The removal of veteran Rajasthan leader from Bihar is seen as a major setback for him

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has ‘lightened’ the responsibility of CP Joshi, former union minister and a veteran leader of Rajasthan. He has been divested of from the Bihar incharge post. Shaktisinh Gohil has replaced him.
The removal of Joshi from Bihar could be termed a major set back for him. Joshi is considered to be close to Rahul Gandhi and hence he was entrusted with the task to look after seven northeastern states as well as Bihar, West Bengal, and the Andaman and Nicobar islands.
But Congress’s debacle in recent elections held in NE states and factionalism surfaced in Bihar proved costly for Joshi. In Bihar, former state party president Ashok Choudhary left party due to differences with Joshi, which, as per the party sources, made the party high command to relieve him from Bihar, where Congress is struggling for a revival.
“The party appreciates the hard work and contribution of CP Joshi, who is relieved from the charge of general secretary in charge of Bihar,” said an order issued by AICC general secretary (organization) Gehlot quoting Gandhi.
Meanwhile, Joshi has welcomed the development and wished Gohil for a new task. “Congratulations to Shaktisinh Gohil on his appointment as the AICC in-charge of the great state of Bihar. I wish him all the best for his tenure also I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every karykarta and leader of INC Bihar for their Support during my term,” said Joshi in a tweet.
The new appointments are part of Gandhi’s efforts to bring in young leaders at key party positions.
He had stated this at the party’s plenary session last month, post to which organization reshuffling at a mass level is on without any break. Since the organization reshuffling begun the ‘old guards’ of the party either were lightened or given less important portfolios.
