Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the RSS and accused it of spreading hatred.

Addressing Seva Dal volunteers at a conference in Ajmer on Thursday, the Gandhi scion said that he removed hatred from the heart of prime minister Narendra Modi by hugging him in parliament, a moment which hit the news headline a couple of months ago.

Gandhi asked Congress Seva Dal volunteers to counter the hatred spread by the BJP and its ideological fountainhead RSS with love. “We should understand that we cannot fight BJP’s hate with hate. I hugged Modi to remove that hatred. We need to start a new beginning and Seva Dal needs to be strengthened,” said Rahul, saying that RSS members wake up in the morning, clad in Khaki Knickers, and use lathis.

He also accused the RSS of creating unrest in the Northeast and claimed that BJP-RSS work for the benefit a club of the rich while Congress for the countrymen, citing Congress government’s decision on loan waiver in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh. He urged the volunteers of Seva Dal to assist people in the natural calamity.

“BJP-RSS believe that India is a product that should benefit a handful of their rich friends. We need to start a new beginning. Congress Seva Dal needs to be strengthened. Seva Dal is the Congress party’s first line of defence.

You are the backbone of our organisation. I want to assure that you will receive the honour that you deserve. We believe in justice for all. It does not make a difference to BJP if farmers commit suicide or people have to stand in queues during demonetisation. Their sole intention is to benefit India’s rich. We waived off farm loans in Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka and Punjab, whereas Modi waived off loans worth Rs3,50,000 crore of people like Anil Ambani, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi,” said Rahul.

He said that Modi gives big speeches, claiming that nothing happened (in the country) in the past 70 years.

“That means Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar (Vallabhbhai) Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru, (B R) Ambedkar and all chief ministers, people of the country, farmers, labourers and small traders did nothing. It is an insult of every citizen,” Gandhi said.

He added that Modi said unwarranted things about him, his family and insulted the entire Congress party saying that he will finish the Congress party.

“But, hate can be defeated only by love,” he said. Earlier, chief minister Ashok Gehlot and PCC chief and deputy CM Sachin Pilot also addressed the volunteers.
