Congressmen, on Wednesday, took out ‘Bhrastachar Mitao- BJP Bhagao’ (End Corruption, Remove BJP) rally accusing the Raje government for allegedly orchestrating a scam to the tune of Rs 2600 crores in the ongoing Smart City works.

Jaipur District Congress president Pratap Singh Khachariyawas led the rally which was attended by thousands of workers in the Walled City. Khachariyawas in his address to the workers accused the state government and its ministers for indulging in corrupt practices and warned he would push for a probe against them when Congress party returns to power after the assembly elections scheduled later this year.

“The ministers and officers are openly taking bribe. Not a single department has been left in Rajasthan where bribe is not taken to get works done. When our government comes to power, all scams and corrupt practices will be thoroughly probed and the guilty will be brought to the notice of law agencies,” said Khachariyawas.

The one-time MLA further slammed the government for wasting money in the name of Smart City Project. He questioned the utility of smart city works being carried out in the old city and called the works ‘useless’. The firebrand Congress leader also alleged that the project is a threat to infrastructure, heritage, basic amenities of the denizens and traders.

“In the name of the smart city, the government agency is destroying the city’s heritage. Poor quality of civil works narrates tale of the corruption. I have collected documents and would approach to ACB,” he said.
