Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Arun Chaturvedi alleged that Congress MLA Alpesh Thakore is behind the attack on people of UP and Bihar in Gujarat.
The BJP on Tuesday targeted Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is currently in the state on the issue of Gujarat violence. Chaturvedi demanded that the Congress president should ask his legislator to resign. He asked Rahul, “will the Congress party ask for his resignation from the party”?
While addressing a press conference at BJP’s state headquarters, Chaturvedi said that the Congress MLA was behind the Gujarat violence. Congress MLA Alpesh Thakore is the pillar of support for this violence, Rahul Gandhi is on a tour of the state, will he seek the resignation of Thakore?
Chaturvedi said that on one side the Congress supports those who talk of separatism in JNU. On the other hand, Congress is working to attack the poor and the labourers in Gujarat.
The Congress is working in an aggressive manner to attack national unity and social harmony, he alleged.
Chaturvedi on this occasion also tried to put rest to the speculation about many ministers trying to change their seats in the assembly elections. He said that all ministers are able to win from their constituencies. If the party will give tickets to them (ministers), then they will contest election from where they won in last elections.
“I am not a minister who will change his seat. If the party gives me the ticket from the Civil Lines constituency area, then I will contest from here,” Chaturvedi responded to a question. “Some people are spreading rumours that I am changing my assembly seat but this is totally wrong,” he added.

BJP saw discontent against sitting MLA of Chaksu Lakshminarayan Bairwa in a feedback meeting conducted by the party on Tuesday. When the meeting was going on, many people were seen shouting slogans against Bairwa in the presence of party in charge Avinash Rai Khanna. Seeing this Khanna got miffed and warned the people creating ruckus.
