The second phase of chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’ will start from Jodhpur division on August 24. The plan was proposed in Bharatpur division on August 16 after the initial plan of the second phase had to be changed in the backdrop of deteriorating health and subsequent death of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Earlier the yatra had to start from Bharatpur division and now, in Jodhpur division it will start from August 24 instead of August 23.
BJP state president Madan Lal Saini said on Saturday that the second phase of the yatra will start from Ramdevra Temple of Pokhran in Jodhpur division on August 24. The date of the yatra in Bharatpur division will be finalised later. It is due to Bakra Eid that the yatra in Jodhpur division had to be delayed by one day. The yatra will take a day’s break due to Rakshabandhan on August 26.
The entire focus of the BJP is now on Jodhpur and the entire programme of the yatra will be chalked out in the meeting of the yatra committee, Saini said. It was on August 4 that the CM embarked on the yatra from Charbhuja Ji temple of Rajsamand. In the first phase, Raje visited Udaipur Division from August 4 to 10.
The programme of the Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra was released till September 30 and the dates were fixed for all seven divisions across the state. In the second phase, the yatra was scheduled in Bharatpur division on August 16-17 and 19-20 and the party had completed all preparations for the same. But given the situation now, it seems difficult to hold yatra in Bharatpur division. Moreover, the code of conduct for Assembly elections in the state may be applicable in the first week of October and then it would not be possible to conduct yatra in Bharatpur division. If there is any delay in implementation of the Code of Conduct, the yatra can be organized in the division.
