The chief minister Vasundhara Raje’s home district Dholpur, in the field of education,  has been ranked 4th among ‘’Better 20’’ districts included in the Prime Minister Modi’s 101 aspirational districts. The aspirational districts are those districts which need extra push for development. Rajasthan has 5 districts in this beleaguered list – Dholpur, Karauli, Sirohi, Jaisalmer and Baran.

However, in the baseline ranking issued by Niti Aayog recently, Dholpur has been ranked 25th, Karauli 31st, Baran 36th while Sirohi and Jaisalmer have been ranked 53rd and 81st respectively in the list.  While Dholpur, Baran and Karauli need little push to emerge out of this list, Jaisalmer and Sirohi lag behind badly.

The ranking of these five districts along with other chosen districts were on the basis of published data of 49 parameters (81 data points) across five developmental areas of Health and Nutrition, Education, Agriculture and Water Resources, Financial Inclusion and Skill Development, and Basic Infrastructure.

All these 5 districts will have to work hard in the field of education, health and nutrition, basic infrastructure and there are such 49 parameters to come on top of these 101 districts across the country.

“Our main focus will now be on nutrition and health. I can say that we had been working in education sector for improving infrastructure and quality,” said Shuchi Tyagi, district collector of Dholpur speaking to DNA.

She informed that now the objective will be to focus on pregnant ladies and kids upto 5 years.
