In a bid to make the state budget more people-centric, the Rajasthan government plans to try and take suggestions of the public before formulating a policy.  In a pre-budget meeting, chief minister Vasundhara Raje deliberated with various stakeholders on the issue.

So far, a whopping 2,000 online suggestions were received from the public.

“The government hopes that the budget of the state will fulfill expectations of the people and be pro-development. We have tried to ensure participation of all sections of the society in the budget process. A better budget can be prepared by looking into the ground realities along with suggestions from experts and representatives from different fields,” said Raje.

She was addressing the first pre-budget meeting with representatives of voluntary organizations, civil societies and consumer forum at the CMO on Wednesday. Raje further stated that in the last four years, the state touched new heights of development through the budget.

“Through these meetings, we get information about the needs in different areas. With all the valuable suggestions, we are taking the state on the path of development. We also have kept the option of online suggestions from the public to get general and logical suggestions for the budget. Attempts will be made to include suggestions after examination by the department concerned,” said the CM.

In the meeting, representatives of voluntary organizations from different regions gave important suggestions about the budget.

Additional chief secretary (finance) DB Gupta, while giving information about the dialogue, said that in a bid to make the state budget more inclusive, nearly 2,000 suggestions were received online on the finance department’s website.
