Centre's urban schemes: Rajasthan get a pat on the back

The state government has declared 188 cities open defecation free (ODF) across the state and by March 31, the remaining five cities will also be declared ODF.

Additional Chief Secretary of Local Self Governance Manjit Singh received a surprise birthday gift on Friday when the Central government UDH secretary Durga Shankar Mishra gave a pat on his back for rolling out the Central government's funded schemes in an exceptional manner.

Mishra was in Jaipur to review the progress of the Central Government schemes. Mishra said that performance of all the central schemes in Rajasthan have been outstanding. The state government has declared 188 cities open defecation free (ODF) across the state and by March 31, the remaining five cities will also be declared ODF.

Mishra reviewed Smart City, Swachh Bharat Mission, HRIDAY, AMRUT, Housing for All and other schemes along with Chief Secretary NC Goel. He also praised Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Urban Development Minister Shrichand Kriplani and ACS (LSG) Manjeet Singh for the results Rajasthan has shown. Officials from the LSG Department, Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur and Ajmer Smart City including DLB Director Pawan Arora, were also present in the meeting.

Mishra said that more than 500 bicycles have been included in the bike sharing project. Under the Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana (HRIDAY) scheme, projects worth Rs.12000 crores were launched in Ajmer which will be completed by June 2018. The Rs 500-crore Udaipur Smart City Project will also start soon,” he said.
