The Jaipur Development Authority has registered its reservations towards the terms for development of Central Spine in Jagatpura. The authority has cited that the present understanding is against its 'interest' and demanded share from the RIICO land near the site. The issue was raised by the authority ahead of urban development department and was asked to get details of their issues and suggestions before next meeting.

"The next meeting on the issue will be held in presence of additional chief secretary Industries as the suggestions of JDA are also concerned with RIICO," said ACS, Urban Development, Mukesh Sharma.

According to JDA officials, the project became a loss making venture following the increase in compensation criteria. Initially it was agreed that the affected parties will be provided 15 per cent developed land as compensation, however, it was amended last year to provide 25 per cent developed land. The JDA thus has lost much of its expected property in compensation and now seeks to reimburse it from RIICO.

The Central Spine scheme was first proposed in 2003. The JDA's efforts to develop it were faced with several issues related to land acquisition. The government increased the compensation criteria last year to resolve the objections, this though has created more financial concerns for JDA.
