Three days after the Central Bureau of India (CBI) registered an FIR in the Anandpal Singh encounter case, a 10-member investigating team of the CBI reached the Malasar village on Wednesday afternoon. The team visited the house where the encounter took place and inspected the entire place with several points that are under observation in the investigation.

While conducting the investigation, the CBI team also questioned Shravan Singh, the man in whose house Anandpal’s encounter took place. Sources say that even the family members were questioned about the night of the encounter. The team stayed at Shravan Singh’s house for nearly two hours and inspected the site carefully.

After Malasar, the CBI team moved to Sanwrad where it inspected the rally ground and the Sanwrad railway station in connection with 12th July rally called by Rajput community leaders. The team also visited the Sanwrad railway station where a train had been set ablaze while attacks were made on cops. Sources say that a few families living near the station were also questioned about the incident.

Notably, the team stayed at Sanwrad for nearly an hour and as dusk fell, the team moved from the place. The team would visit Sanwrad again on Thursday to continue in its investigation. However, the team did not meet with Anandpal’s family members and is expected to meet them on Thursday.

The CBI is investigating three matters in which the first is Anandpal’s encounter, the second being death of Surendra Singh in the aftermath of Sanwrad rally and the third  one against Rajput leaders for inciting violence. Interestingly, after the CBI registered cases against Rajput community leaders, the members have been objecting to the same claiming that the government has backtracked on its word given to them.
