CBI finds Rs 1.7 cr worth property with I-T official in Jalore

The CBI on Tuesday booked an income tax official on the charge of owning properties disproportionate to his known income sources. Acting on a complaint filed against income tax officer Jawan Singh Charan, who is posted in Jalore, a CBI team raided his premises and unearthed properties worth Rs 1.7 crore. According to the CBI, a team on Tuesday conducted raids at his Jalore office and residence. Team also raided his house in his native village Kharikalla.

The CBI received a complaint that Jawan Singh Charan, working income tax officer working in Jalore, possess properties disproportionate to his known income sources. On the basis of initial scrutiny, the CBI team led by CBI SP Harishchandra found that he owned two plots in Pali and a bungalow in Rajendra Nagar Pali, a house in Jalore and a large plot of residential in Kharikala village near Dangiyawas. The combined value of properties is more than Rs 1 crore. 

During the raid, the CBI recovered papers of three plots, along with documents of three houses. The CBI team said that Jawan Singh had purchased these properties from 2006 to 2018. The CBI also plans to check his bank lockers.
