On Valentine’s day, a festival of love, Rajasthan is set to witness to a fierce political battle between two chief rivals- Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, who are scheduled to tour the desert state.
Modi and Rahul are likely to intensify their respective parties’ campaign for 2019 Lok Sabha elections on February 14. As per tentative schedules drafted by the BJP, PM Modi is expected to hold an election rally in Tonk, a princely estate of Nawabs and Muslims dominated seat, on the Valentine’s day.

Tonk assembly seat is represented by the PCC chief and deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, who made his debut for the legislative elections from here. Hence, it is expected that he would be celebrating the day taking on chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Pilot, both. It will be the first rally of Modi in Rajasthan after assembly elections in which the BJP was dusted and ousted from the power. The rally could be a big one sending a message to the party cadres whose morale has lowered after the poll debacle.

Prime minister Narendra Modi will have a ‘long-distance date’ with Rahul, who 150 km away in Ajmer would be addressing a two-day conference of Seva Dal. Ajmer was once represented by Pilot as MP. It will be the second rally of Rahul post the assembly elections held in December. Rahul addressed farmers in Jaipur on January 9 under Kisan Dhanyawad Yatra. On March 1, Rahul is expected to tour Udaipur where he would address a conference of Youth Congress.
