The real motive behind the murder of Vasudev Israni is to create the fear of Lawrence Vishnoi among the city’s business community. Lawrence knew that merely issuing threats will not yield money. That is why Vasudev was bumped off by Harendra Jat, a member of the Lawrence gang. The audacity of the gang can be guaged from the fact that Harendra not only threatened Vasudev on phone but also told the Sardarpura police station officer saying that “you do what you can do, I will kill Vasudev”. It was after this threat Vasudev was given police guards.

About 20 days later, when Harendra called again, Vasudev jekpt talking to him on phone and went to police station where he gave the phone to SHO Bhupendendra Singh. Harendra even threatened the SHO and said, “I will kill him, You do what you can do”. On the day of of Vasudev’s murder, the security personnel reached the spot without arms and just 45 minutes prior to the murder the SHO left saying that he has some work. Anu alleges that the role of SHO seems dubious.
After this murder, the Lawrence gang is definitely going to threaten more Jodhpur’s wealthy businessmen to exhort money. What has really scared businessmen is that even police protection is of no use, giving rise to the view that now they (businessmen) will bow to every demand of the gang without informing the police.
