Bike-borne masked youths conduct Rs 21 lakh loot in Kota

Bike-borne masked youths, orchestrated a loot of Rs 21 lakh in broad daylight sending shock waves through Kota on Monday morning. Around 11 o’clock, two masked youths opened fire at two managers of Om Service Fueling Station near Punjab National Bank in front of Aaksh mall and robbed them of a briefcase containing cash of worth 21.23 lakh from one of them. The area falls in Dhanmandi at the Aerodrome circle that falls under the Gumanpura police station.

Two managers of Om Service fueling station identified as Anand Singh and Om Prakesh had on Monday morning left on their motorbike for nearby PNB bank branch to deposit cash collection of Sunday and Saturday in a briefcase, circle in charge at Gumanpura police station, Anand Yadav, said. “As the two men carrying cash reached the bank branch in front of Aakash Mall, a masked youth arrived at the bank. Another one was likely standing there already and one of the two opened fire at the two petrol pump employees,” he said, adding, “Two shots were fired that pierced into the ribs and leg of Anand Singh who was riding pillion on the bike and was holding the briefcase containing cash.”

As soon as Singh collapsed on the road, one of the two masked youths robbed the briefcase from his hand and fled on DCM Road along with his aide on the bike. Anand Singh was immediately rushed to Maharao Bhim Singh Hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment, the police said.

On the report filed by proprietor of the petrol pump, police have lodged a case under relevant sections of IPC against the two unidentified youths and efforts are underway to nab them. Police teams have been set up and they fanned out on all exit points which the accused could have used as a getaway. The police are also checking footage of CCTV cameras installed around the spot of incident. An alert was sounded at all the police check posts of the district but there was no clue of the two till reports last came in.

Top police officials including Kota city SP Deepak Bhargav rushed to the spot immediately after the incident.
