He said that doctors are seen as next only to god and should always remain aware and sensitive.

Speaking at the 4th convocation at Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS), Singh said that there can be differences with the system or with the government however these differences should make doctors insensitive. He said boycotting duty or closure of a hospital for a day can be detrimental to lives of lakhs of people.

His comments have come a few weeks after the strike of doctors in the state which went for many days, causing serious problems for patients.

Singh, speaking in presence of senior officials of university and medical students, compared hospital with a temple and said whenever a person faces problems he or she goes to the temple. One can imagine state of that person if he finds the door of the temple closed. Similarly, one can imagine plight of a sick person, who goes to a hospital and finds no doctor, said governor Singh who is also the chancellor of the university said on Tuesday.

On the occasion, Kalyan Singh also remembered Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and said that his bravery, sacrifice and love for country cannot be forgotten. He also awarded honorary degree of doctor of science -medicine to noted doctor Padma Shri Ashok Panagariya during the ceremony.
