Had the Jaipur Municipal Corporation secured good points under the public feedback category in the Swachh Survekshan-2018, the Pink City would have made it to the top ten cities across the country.

The ministry of housing and urban affairs had declared the results of the Swachh Survekshan-2018 on Saturday and released Swachh ranking list of the cities. Jaipur was ranked 39th in the survey conducted in 4,047 cities across the country.

As per the survey report, under the public feedback category, Jaipur got less points. The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) is not ready to accept the fact that it got fewer points in public feedback and so the Corporation has filed an objection with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) via e-mail on the matter. If Jaipur city’s public feedback points increase, then it will gain tag of top ten cities in the country, maintain JMC officials.

The performance of Pink City has been spectacular in the Swachh Survekshan-2018, which was conducted this year. In the direct observation part of the survey, Jaipur has secured more than 98 percent points.

Due to this the state capital managed to make it among the top 50 cities across the country.

In the survey, four major categories were taken into consideration and there were 4,000 points fixed for these four categories. Under the direct observation part of the survey, the central team surveyed Jaipur where it visited various places in the city and examined the cleanliness and took public feedback. The team considered the cleaning system of Jaipur to be very good and gave 1,180 points out of 1,200.

Under the public feedback category, Jaipur got 946 points out of 1,400, however, JMC believes that Jaipur should get around 1,200 points under this head.

“This category had 1,000 points for public feedback and 400 points for MoHUA app download. All urban local bodies have been given 325 points for app downloads. According to this calculation, Jaipur should have got more than 1,200 marks. It seems that the app download points of Jaipur were not added.

We have lodged our objection to the ministry through e-mail. I will go to Delhi on Monday or Tuesday and will talk to the ministry officials in this regard,” Nodal Officer of JMC for Swachh Survekshan, Vinod Purohit told DNA.

“We are pretty sure that Jaipur’s points will increase. If the points increase, then the Pink City will be in the top ten cities of the country,” he added.
