Backing the young: Cong tunes in with new RaGa

Congress leaders celebrated the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as AICC president at the party headquarters on Monday. PCC president Sachin Pilot and AICC general secretary and former chief minister Ashok Gehlot who is campaigning with Gandhi scion in Gujarat election termed the event historic.

Pilot expressed happiness over Rahul’s appointment and said that the new energy has been transmitted in the party. “Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress Party is working to preserve country’s pluralistic culture and protecting country’s democratic and constitutional values. He is determined to keep intact unity, brotherhood and goodwill in the country following the principles of the party and he is battling against divisive powers. Every Congress worker feels strong and capable in the directions Rahul Gandhi has provided to the party,” said Pilot in a released statement.

Gehlot also congratulated Gandhi and gave his best wishes to Rahul. “It is a historic moment for Congress party. His youthful energy, compassionate nature and intentions to do good will be an asset. Rahul ji has been working very hard over the years and his dedication, commitment and sincerity will take the party forward on a glorious path. We all look forward to working with him in the interest of the country,” Gehlot tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Congress is geared up for its protest against Raje government on Tuesday. In a response to Raje government’s programmes and celebrations being held on the occasion its 4th anniversary the Congress has decided to hold agitation across the state.
