Politics at Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) took a violent turn on Saturday after an alleged attempt to assault the association’s secretary RS Nandu. He claimed that it was the CP Joshi faction that plotted the attack.

In the FIR filed by Nandu at Vaishali Nagar police station, he stated that an RCA employee along with around eight others tried to force enter his house and threatened his family. He also alleged that the assault was carried out on instructions of RCA president CP Joshi.

“These people were armed with rods and sticks and were led by Mahendra Singh, an RCA employee appointed by CP Joshi last year. This incident makes it clear that Joshi is resorting to violence to suppress protest against his corrupt practices,” said Nandu.

According to the complaint, the accused tried to break the main door and when they failed, they left after threatening the family members of dire consequences. The police, meanwhile, refrained from making any comments as investigation is in preliminary stage.

Since CP Joshi became the president of RCA last year, things have remained volatile with high court intervening every now and then to settle the disputes between Joshi and Modi group. It was because of this longstanding infighting that recently the association lost its hold on SMS Stadium as the state sports council took over its charge in the wake of RCA’s failure to renew the MoU.

Nandu, who is close to former RCA president Lalit Modi, said that CP Joshi is playing dirty politics and has brought disrepute to the game of cricket. While Joshi claimed that Nandu and BJP government in the state are creating troubles on directions of Modi.
