Despite repeated reminders from the party central leadership, neither organisational executive has been set up at all polling booths nor the Panna Pramukhs have been deputed. After stepping down of Ashok Parnami from the post of state BJP chief, the work of making booth executive and Panna Pramukh has slowed down.

There are more than 51,000 polling booths in the state. The central leadership had ordered a year ago that every booth should have an organisational executive. BJP president Amit Shah who came for the state tour also gave orders for the formation of party’s executive at each booth, giving slogans of “strong booth invincible BJP”. Shah had also instructed to appoint a Panna Pramukh for every page of the voter list.

But the BJP has not been able to complete the work even after one year. Last month, party’s state in-charge Avinash Rai Khanna, National Joint Secretary(organisation) V Satish and state general secretary(organisation) Chandrashekhar took a meeting of state office-bearers. In this meeting, all the district presidents were instructed to complete the booth executive’s work till April 5. there is a plan for 21 workers on each booth and Panna Pramukh for each page of voter list of the respective booth.

There are 900 to 1200 voters at a polling booth. There are 60 voters on one page of the voter list.

Therefore, the BJP needs 35 to 40 workers to make booth executive and Panna Pramukhs. It is difficult for the BJP to form a team of 35-40 workers at a booth. In view of this situation, the state organisation has reduced the number of booth executive members to 11.
