While paying tribute to the ‘Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary on Tuesday, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said those who are currently calling up for Congress-free India, would one day themselves be free and expressed concerns over ‘the unusual atmosphere in the country’.

Ashok Gehlot was on Tuesday noon addressing a public meeting organised by Sangod block Congress Committee in Sangod town of Kota district. Gehlot slammed the prime minister for telling lies to the countrymen. ‘The truth is God and God is truth but the PM tells lies,’Gehlot said.

Where would the country ahead if such rulers will rule the country?, Gehlot asked.

The ex-CM slammed the ruling BJP for hijacking the ideals of Congress party and disrespecting the tricolor. BJP has always worked to spark the fire while Congress has worked to defuse the fire, Gehlot said.

Referring to the role of Gandhi family in Congress, Gehlot said despite being a foreigner by birth, Sonia Gandhi has proved to be an ideal example of Indian womanhood. Gandhism reflects in Rahul Gandhi’s personality, he added. Rahul Gandhi is the main target of PM Narendra Modi and he and his party always tries to prove/show him inferior or low, Gehlot said, claiming that it has never been the tradition of Congress party to show or prove its rivals or political competitors to be inferior or low.

Referring to the allotment of seat in 6th row to Rahul Gandhi on Republic Day ceremony in New Delhi, Gehlot said that the public of the country did not know the persons or dignitaries sitting in the first five rows.

Former state minister Bharat Singh on this occasion regretted the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue from the circle in Sangod by the chairman of Sangod municipality board and called upon the people to teach a lesson to the BJP government. Former home minister Shanti Kumar Dhariwal slammed the ruling BJP and RSS for disrespecting national anthem and national flag.
