As monsoon advances, most regions of Rajasthan record good rainfall

MeT predicts heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in eastern parts of the state

With further advancement of monsoon, almost all regions across the state received heavy to scanty rainfall in the last 24 hours. As many as seven stations in Rajasthan received rainfall in the range of 50-100mm while West Banas at Sirohi was the most drenched place in the state, recording 96mm rainfall, as per the data collected by the Department of Water Resources.

The department, while detailing the progress of monsoon, said that seven stations received 50mm and above rainfall while at 217 stations it was below 50mm. However, in the past 24 hours no place has received rainfall above 100mm. If cumulative rainfall is recorded across the state since onset of monsoon from June 1, only Mount Abu has received highest rainfall of 754.8mm.Season’s maximum rainfall on a single  till date has been recorded in Ghatol (Banswara) at 240mm on July 14.

Normal rainfall for Rajasthan is 530.08mm for monsoon period. Till today rainfall received in the state is 170.95mm which is 3.41 % higher compared to normal which is 165mm for the period from June 1 to July 19. West Banas rainfall station of Sirohi district received 96mm rainfall during the last 24 hours. It received total 385.2mm rainfall against the normal 260mm till date. Nine dams fully filled and overflowing are: Haro (Banswara), Bhula (Sirohi), Chandlai (Jaipur), Latara Bandh (Pali), Baloria Bandh, Bageri Bandh, Chinar (Sirohi), Jhadol, Som Pikup Wier (Udaipur).

The data collected on downpour indicates that most parts of Rajasthan received more than normal and above rainfall, Kota and Jaipur zone are still coming under deficit category. Meanwhile, the IMD in its latest forecast predicted of downpour in districts of eastern Rajasthan on Thursday and Friday. Issuing a severe weather warning for two days, the IMD said heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places are very likely to lash of eastern Rajasthan. In view of the warning, the district administration has been geared up to meet any eventuality.
