Gangwar in court premises is something seen only in movies. However, the reel became reality on Wednesday afternoon when armed men opened fire at a history sheeter in court premises at Sadulpur in Churu district. The miscreants braved the shoot out in broad daylight and successfully hit their target multiple times, while also injuring two other men, including the history sheeter's lawyer. The history sheeter later died while undergoing treatment in hospital. The police learnt that it was the history sheeter's own gang members that had turned against him.

Panic and tension ran amok in Sadulpur town after the incident. "The history sheeter identified as Ajay Jaitpura, had come to Sadulpur court for hearing in a matter at around 1 PM. He had been behind bars for nearly two years and about two months back he was convicted in a case of attacking police and was sentenced to seven years imprisonment. However, ten days back the man managed to procure a bail from High Court. On Wednesday, he came to the court to extend the hearing date in another matter," sources said.

Ajay was accompanied by nearly half a dozen of his gang members. "Ajay was with his close aide and his lawyer inside a secluded part of the court on Wednesday when suddenly a few men got down from a SUV and opened fire at the man. Nearly a dozen rounds were fired and Ajay sustained three shots, while his lawyer and close aide were also injured," officials said.
