A row erupted over recruitment on 198 posts of teachers in Rajasthan University (RU) after candidates opposed the inclusion of Academic Performance Indicators (API) score weightage as minimum qualification for 111 posts of assistant professor.

Notably, University Grants Commission mandates NET, SLET and PhD as minimum qualification for assistant professor’s post. Accusations levied are that Rajasthan University administration is trying to give back door entry to favourite candidates are also being levied by the candidates.

The last date for filling application forms online is on Friday. Besides, the API score and favouritism, the candidates have also objected to making good academic record criteria as it would debar hundreds of candidates from applying for the posts.

On the condition of anonymity, some candidates told DNA that favouritism was also shown in the recruitment of 238 posts of teachers in RU in the year 2012.

They also alleged that this time as well RU administration has added the API score weightage in order to give back door entry to their favourite candidates.

One of the candidates maintained that if more than 10 applications are received for a post of assistant professor then the varsity should scrutinise candidates through written examination.

The candidate also alleged that the RU has devised a simple method and form the merit list of candidates through API score weightage criteria. The NET, SLET, SET candidates would be at a loss, he further alleged.

Sources said that RU should add the API score weightage on the candidates who clear the written examination. Besides, inclusion of good academic record, which mandates total 55 marks in class 10, 12 and graduation is another barrier for the candidates.

Apart from this,  the criteria that candidates should have scored a minimum of 50 per cent marks in one out of class 10 or class 12 and should have scored 50 per cent marks, would eliminate many candidates from the rural areas.
