A sordid tale: Policeman rapes colleague’s kid

A policeman in Baran district of Rajasthan has been arrested on charges of raping a minor, who happens to be the daughter of another serving cop. The victim and the accused both live in the police lines of Baran. The accused policeman has been suspended with immediate effect.       

The incident reportedly took place at police lines in Baran on Sunday. The accused is a head constable named Jitendra Singh who is posted there. He faces charges of raping 17-year-daughter of his colleague. A case has been registered at the mahila thana (women’s police station). The investigation into the matter has been handed over to the SC/ST cell.   

“The incident took place yesterday. The accused policeman has been arrested and has been placed under suspension. The statements of the victim have been recorded,”  DD Singh, Baran SP told DNA. The police have registered a case under POCSO and the IPC. “A medical examination of the victim has been conducted. Statements of the victim and her family have been recorded. She has accused a policeman of the crime. Fair action will be taken,” said Rohit Meena Additional SP (SC/ST).
