To give high-profile guests and dignitaries attending the pre-wedding celebrations of Nita and Mukesh Ambani’s daughter, Isha to Piramal scion, Anand, a taste of Indian hospitality, the host families are bringing in a glimpse of the best of Taj Group restaurants from around the world, inside Udaipur’s City Palace.
Taj Group’s best eight
Miniature replicas of eight exceptional restaurants from Taj properties around the world are being created inside the palace. For one of the ceremonies that will be split over December 8 and 9, the hosts have decided to go with a restaurant theme to serve guests in regal style. While the City Palace will serve as a backdrop with regal architecture and ambience, the restaurants will add global flavour to the event.
‘An iconic Indian brand’
“The Reliance family — the Ambanis themselves — took the decision to showcase the best restaurants from around the world. The idea was to give the distinguished guests a flavour of Indian hospitality before the actual wedding,” a source told DNA. The source added that the family chose the Taj group, since it is one of the country’s most iconic and historic brands. Guests attending the pre-wedding ceremonies will also be served by students of Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Aurangabad, which is also owned by the Taj Group.
A shimmering party at City Palace
On Saturday, the festivities in Udaipur will begin at Oberoi Udaivilas, where ceremonies will be held against the backdrop of a marketplace with stalls displaying unique artifacts and performances by artistes. On the second day, the action will shift to the City Palace’s Manak Chowk where an evening of performing arts and a light and sound show will be held. An after party that is to be held on one of these days, will transform the City Palace into a magical world with a crystal and shimmer theme.
Guests’ line-up
Nearly 2500 guests will attend the wedding, with over 1600 lodged at Manak Chowk and around 700 at Janana Mahal. Approximately 50 chartered flights are bringing in illustrious guests, including nearly 350 VVIPs to attend Isha-Anand’s pre-wedding bash in Udaipur. Besides the to-be bride and groom, both sides of the families have also reached Udaipur. Anil Ambani and wife Tina, along with Anil and Mukesh’s mother, Kokilaben, are also in Udaipur. A number of desi and international celebrities were expected to reach the City of Lakes by Friday evening.
With the kind of festivities planned for Isha’s pre-wedding bash in Udaipur, one can expect a larger-than-life wedding in Mumbai on December 12. After best friend Priyanka Chopra’s grand wedding in Jodhpur, Isha’s pre-wedding ceremonies are already grabbing attention.
