5-year-old slips into borewell

An open borewell in Sawai Madhopur turned out to be “fatal” on Tuesday when five-year-old Aman, who was playing with friends at some distance from his house, slipped into the tunnel.

Alert cops who received the news immediately informed the administration. However, till midnight, there was no news of Aman.

Aman is a native of Paniyala village under Malarna Doongar police station. “Around 4pm, the children were playing at the spot close to borewell. They didn’t realise when they reached the “fatal” spot,” said Bijendra Singh, station incharge, Malarna Doongar police station.

“As soon as the child slipped and fell into the borewell, other children started crying. This raised an alarm. Few women who were passing by saw the children and alerted villagers,” the station incharge informed.

The site is 15 km from the police station, but the cops rushed to the spot immediately. “Administrative officials were contacted while earth moving machines were also pressed into service. Orders were given to start digging beside the borewell,” officials said.
