While the family was travelling from Jaipur to Baroda, the car veered off from the road and smashed the divider as the person driving fell asleep on the steering
A major accident occurred early on Monday morning at Rajsamand which resulted in death of five individuals of the same family.
The deceased - three men, one woman and one child - were travelling from Jaipur to Baroda when the accident occurred. Notably, one ten year old boy survived the accident and has sustained only a fracture.
The family members - identified as Amrit lal (69) and his wife Suman Modi (63), Amrit’s son Alkesh Modi (37) and his wife Peenal Modi (32), and the grand children Vedansh (4) and Dhanvi (10) - were travelling in a car.
“The family probably started from Jaipur late in the night as they were crossing the Gomti Choraha area early in the morning. While they were crossing the area, Alkesh - who was driving the car - fell asleep on the steering. This resulted in the car veering off from the road and smashing the divider on the national highway. As a result of this the car overturned and got damaged severely” said Girdhari Lal, station incharge, Charbhuja police station.
As the accident occurred, truckers passing from the area stopped and rushed to the family’s rescue.
“The police was informed and teams rushed to the spot. On reaching it was found that Peenal and Dhanvi were still breathing and they were rushed to hospital. However Peenal was later declared dead by doctors on reaching the hospital while Dhanvi was treated for fracture. The relatives of the family were contacted and after a post mortem of the deceased the dead bodies were handed to the family members” the official said.
