3 child marriages solemnised on Akha Teej in Hadouti area

The family members of the two minors were asked to sign an affidavit not to solemnise their marriage till they attain the age of 18 years.

On the occasion of Akha Teej activists stopped three child marriages in Kota Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts of Hadouti region on Wednesday.

The marriage of two minor sisters of Banjara community were stopped at Jugpura area under Anantpura police station of Kota city after the family members of the two minor brides failed to submit the age documents, Bhupendra Singh, coordinator of Child Line in Kota said. The family members of the two minors were asked to sign an affidavit not to solemnise their marriage till they attain the age of 18 years.

Similarly, reports of child marriage in Gujar community were received from Lalpura village of Bundi district. Tehsildar rushed to the spot to examine the age certificates of the reported minor pairs of Gujjar community.

Two other child marriage were reported from Aklera and Khanpur areas of Jhalwar district where the officials concerned rushed to stop the marriages, said an official at control room in Jhalawar.

A minor girl of Bairwa community was reportedly married in Ramganjmandi area following which the parents were asked to produce age certificate but they could produce only Aadhaar card which is not recognised as proof of age, said SHO at Ramganjmandi police station Manoj Sikarwal . The papers to verify the age of the girl would be taken from the school tomorrow and if she is found below the age, the parents would face action, the SHO said.Child marriages were also reported at mass marriage of Gujar community in a nearby village in Kapran town of Bundi district,  SHO at Kaprain police station Vasudev Singh said.
