There is a Bhasha Department under the Home Department of the Union government that clears the demands for recognition. Total 38 proposals are pending before them. They were of the opinion that certain languages could not be given preference all would be considered together.
We suggested to the home department that out of the 38 proposals, seven state assemblies have sent proposals for recommendation of their respective languages to be given recognition, Rajasthan is one of them. We further told them that out of these seven, three languages have been given recognition by other countries. Bhojpuri is recognised by Mauritious, Goti by Bhutan and Rajasthani by Nepal.
The matter is progressing positively and there is a lot that adds weight to claim, Rajasthani can surely hope to get recognition soon. The matter has to be put up before the cabinet to be cleared.
The government of India had also formed a languages commission in the time of UPA II to study the issue and give a report. It also gave a report that local languages and dialects need to be conserved.
The RSS proposal is sure to add to an environment that would be conducive to giving recognition to languages. Proposals that come after feedback from the society do add weight to the demands.
