A Tiger dies in Sariska on Monday and now in Ranthambhore. What happened at Ranthambhore?

I don’t have much details. T-28 died after getting tranquilized.

Will the Ranthambhore incident be investigated?

I don’t know. The Field Director will send a report tomorrow. I will check it and see what is required to be done.

What steps have been taken to probe the death of ST-11 at Sariska? The snare was put so near to the headquarters.

Why would anyone think the snare was put nearby. No person can control inch by inch land. But certainly farmers use such tactics to secure their fields. That farmer laid a trap which is wrong and we are inquiring into it whether he is a one time offender or he has any old incident against him. It will take 2-3 days’ time.

There must have been a struggle time -from the time tiger got caught in the snare till its death.

The tiger got trapped between 2.30-3 PM and then the animal struggled maybe for an hour or two and the farmer came to know about it at 5.30 PM.

Then he called his friend who called the farmer to Alwar where they consulted a lawyer first. Then he came back from Alwar and around 8-8.30 PM confessed to a forester. By the time information reached us it was 9.15 PM and I was also in Sariska. We reached the spot at 9.30 PM. It is really a tragedy but we have to find out if it was by mistake or it was an offence.

Any case has been registered against the farmer?

Case has been registered against him. It comes under the definition of hunting under relevant sections.
