Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore put up a commanding display in the IPL 2020 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. Mohammed Siraj was the stand-out bowler as he became the first player to bowl two maidens in an IPL match as he ended with brilliant figures of 4-2-8-3. Kolkata Knight Riders managed to reach 50 in only the 17th over and it was the slowest fifty since 2009 when Kings XI Punjab achieved the same against Chennai Super Kings. Kolkata Knight Riders crawled to 84/8 and Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the target with 39 balls to spare to win by eight wickets and move to the second spot.

On a day of records, RCB skipper Virat Kohli was also not left behind as he smashed 18 off 17 balls. Although it was a small knock, Virat Kohli still managed to achieve a special milestone. In the 13th over bowled by Lockie Ferguson, Kohli nonchalantly pulled a short ball to the deep midwicket fence for a boundary. The boundary was his 500th four in the history of the IPL and it put him in an elite list.

Virat Kohli became the second player to hit 500 fours in the IPL. Shikhar Dhawan, his Delhi and India cricket team, leads the list with 575 boundaries. In the next game, Virat Kohli needs to hit one more six to reach 200 sixes in the IPL.

Not a lot of belief in RCB

After the win, Virat Kohli was satisfied but added that not many people have confidence in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s abilities and they will be going all out to dispel the notion.

“We have a plan A, we have a plan B, and people are executing it that's why it's looking good. Contrary to the public belief, I don't think a lot of people have belief in RCB. I do, guys in the changeroom do and that's all that matters. We are just here to execute our plans in place. We do have the skills. You can have the best players in the world but if you don't have the belief then you won't have results on the field,” Kohli said.

Royal Challengers Bangalore face a thrilling match against Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and a win will help them reach the play-offs.
